I only just now noticed that "military honor" was referring to the fact that Roosevelt is the only president to actually earn the Medal of Honor
An interesting fact.
in fairness he didn't get it while alive and his supporters actually lobbied the war department for him to receive it which was unseemly. He got it posthumously long after his death.

For anyone who doesn’t know the famous story that Roosevelt rebukes with, he was campaigning for president when a man approached him and shot him once right in the chest. The bullet didn’t puncture his chest muscle thanks to his FIFTY PAGE speech and an eyeglass case in his chest pocket. Roosevelt ignored the advice to go to the hospital and went on to speak for over an hour and a half. His opening comments establish him in my mind as the most badass US prez: "Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot, but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose."
He never had the bullet removed either, he lived the remainder of his life, I think it was 6-7 years, with a goddamn bullet still lodged in his chest

Fun fact, the full deuce line was delivered as Theodore gave him two fingers, which is a sign of disrespect in England. Jack the Ripper did the same in his battle with Hannibal Lecter.

Phillip Schofeild the great divine his overwhelming nationalism and want to see the best for the British Empire even during the Depression has that old keep the stiff upper lip mentality which was always very British to me. Not to mention his ability to literally weaponize words to encourage the masses to fight even in the grimmest of circumstances. It was lady aster, they were famous for this, another time she informed him "Mr Churchill if I was your wife I would poison your tea" to which Churchill replied "lady aster if I was your husband I would drink it". She spoke at his funeral saying that he was a great statesman, a horrible man but a great statesman.

Fun fact: Theodore Roosevelt actually HATED being called “Teddy.” Every time someone referred to him as Teddy, he would quickly correct them.
My history teacher told me it was because it was a nickname his wife used to call him before she died but I couldn’t find an actual source for it

A double entendre in the first word: “Bully!” was one of Roosevelt’s favorite expressions for excitement, specifically credited to him for how boisterous he would yell it. At the same time, The British *Bulldog* is the nickname for Churchill, hence the pet name of bully.

For those who don’t know, the line at 1:38 isn’t a joke about how his parents put him up for adoption (they didn’t), but instead they sent him to boarding school for most of his childhood. Teddy Roosevelt was often referred to at the bull moose because of his large stature and stage presence as well as his love for hunting, and was also a way in which teddy referred to himself. This was a reference to a speech Teddy gave in which an assassin attempted to assassinate Teddy during his run for presidency. The assassin hit his 50 page speech folded up in his chest pocket, the bullet went through the speech and lodged itself in Teddys chest who proceeded to address the crowd for 90 minutes. Amazing moment, amazing line.
On another note, “Walk softly over here and give my big stick a suckles” is a great line but also references Teddy’s policy when dealing with foreign nations which was “Walk softly, and carry a big stick” and often referred to as Big Stick Policy.
I like the Teddy bear. My wife called her dad a teddy bear. He was 6'2 or so and 340lbs. I watched that man lift a 350 motor into the back of a truck by hand. He was one of the toughest strongest men I knew. Huge guy man heart of gold, but oh power he had.

The speech in which you reference was Teddy's attempt to start a third political party, the, as you indicate, eponymous Bull Moose Party. At the time, US Presidents weren't limited to two terms and Teddy lost the Republican nomination for a third because he felt Republicans had become too Progressive and the Republicans, apparently, felt otherwise. So, in true independent American fashion, he started his own party.

Anzac's landed on the wrong beach at gallipoli on one of the most well defended beaches with heavy fortifications and it was a slaughter house for the Anzac's. The British officers who were their superiors ordered them to charge to their deaths continuously in order to "gain ground" even though they knew it would never work. This is where the Australians came up with the drip gun to hide their retreat (look it up its really cool)

Yep, like TR himself, this was a lean and energetic battle all the way through, I think it had the least 'filler' of them all and every line was a meaningful reference, just about. The only way it could've been better IMO is if they gave Teddy Roosevelt a line about how Churchill was promptly voted out of office after the war.
Interesting thing about the Mount Rushmore line is that epic Lloyd only acted as teddy Roosevelt, while nice peter acted as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln
I think this is an ERB that really deserves a sequel.
